Epicurean Hotel Hosting Ninth Annual “EPIC Summer Cooking Series” to Help Fight Childhood Hunger

Posted by Sara Tirrell, June 10, 2024

Who: Epicurean Hotel, A Kid’s Place of Tampa Bay, and Where Love Grows, a Tampa nonprofit dedicated to ending childhood hunger

What: For the ninth year, Epicurean Hotel is hosting the “EPIC Summer Cooking Series,” which consists of four hands-on cooking classes for area youth. This year, 24 children from A Kid’s Place Tampa Bay, a residential foster care program focused on keeping siblings together that are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment, will participate in the summer cooking series. A partnership between the Epicurean and local nonprofit Where Love Grows, the classes are designed to teach children about healthy eating and how to prepare easy, healthy meals for themselves at home. Each class includes expert instruction by an Epicurean Hotel chef.

The EPIC Summer Cooking Series begins Monday, June 17, with a breakfast class, while the June 21 and 24 classes will focus on lunch and dinner meals. The final cooking class takes place Friday, June 28, which will include a graduation celebration.

Founded by Vicki Anzalone, Where Love Grows is part of the coalition led by Feeding Tampa Bay and the USF Center for Healthy Communities and Food Security, whose goal is to end hunger in Tampa Bay by 2025. Where Love Grows has served more than 40,000 meals and hosted over 2,100 attendees through their mobile/virtual cooking program. WhereLoveGrows.org.
